Lights. Camera. Imagination.
Sydney Janae Bannerman has always believed that stories have the power to transport people to new worlds, spark emotions, and leave lasting impressions. As a high school senior preparing to embark on her college journey, Sydney is already turning her dreams into reality, one script, one dance step, and one creative project at a time.
With aspirations of becoming a successful screenwriter and building a career in the film and media industry, Sydney sees the world through a lens of endless possibility. Whether she is crafting compelling characters, imagining suspenseful plot twists, or dreaming up her next big screenplay, she is constantly inspired by the magic of storytelling.
A self-proclaimed lover of thrillers, Sydney counts The Black Phone among her favorite films. She enjoys stories that keep audiences on the edge of their seats, and one day she hopes to create that same sense of wonder and excitement for viewers around the world. Her future plans include majoring in Film, Media, and Screenwriting, where she can continue developing her creative voice and bringing captivating stories to life. But storytelling isn't Sydney's only passion.
Dance has been a central part of her life for many years. Trained in Ballet, Modern, Lyrical, and Jazz, she has learned how movement can tell stories just as powerfully as words. Whether she's performing on stage or choreographing new ideas, dance has taught her discipline, confidence, and artistic expression.

UNCSA 2026 Filmmaking Summer Intensive
Sydney has also explored the world of theater, appearing in productions such as Jane Eyre, Charlie Brown, and Aladdin Jr. These experiences allowed her to step into different characters, discover new perspectives, and deepen her love for performance and storytelling.
Her passion for creativity extends beyond the stage. During the summer of 2025, Sydney attended a North Carolina State University writing and screenwriting program, where she strengthened her skills as a storyteller. The following summer, she participated in the prestigious UNC School of the Arts Filmmaking Intensive, immersing herself in every aspect of film production including writing, directing, editing, sound design, cinematography, and acting. By the end of the four-week experience, Sydney had contributed to an incredible ten short films, gaining firsthand experience in bringing stories from imagination to screen.
Away from the spotlight, Sydney is known for her warm heart and dedication to serving others. Through her volunteer work with the youth ministry at NOW Church, she has come to appreciate the profound impact one person can have on a community. She believes success is not measured simply by achievements, but by the positive difference we make in the lives of others.
When she's not dancing, writing, volunteering, or dreaming up her next screenplay, you can probably find Sydney enjoying her favorite Asian cuisine, treating herself to Birthday Cake Ice Cream, or spending time on FaceTime catching up with friends and family. And if you ask her who her favorite family member is, she'll proudly tell you it's her brother, Walter.
As Sydney prepares for the next chapter of her journey, she carries with her a vivid imagination, a compassionate spirit, and a determination to create stories that inspire, entertain, and connect people from all walks of life.
The future is waiting.
